Hi, Busy weekend!! Caitlyn made an appearance as a therapy dog with the “Arts in Medicine Showcase” this weekend. Dad tagged along as well. Caitlyn was in good Spirits and enjoyed her visit.
Here are some more pictures of other Therapy dogs in attendance. There were quite a few Labradors present. While there I attended a lecture called “Hospice Hounds: Animal-Assisted Therapy in a Hospice Settings. It was presented by Michelle A. Rivera, who started the Hospice Hounds. Ms. Rivera also has written a number of books about Therapy dogs and their work with Hospice patients.
The overall event was well attended and a good success. I learned a lot about how to help Caitlyn do a better job as a Therapy dog.
So we all gathered together at the local hospital at the Hospice table to show off our Therapy dogs. Caitlyn, my Dad’s dog is a Therapy dog. We were there about 2 hours before Caitlyn became over stimulated by all the people. Everyone was really friendly and very kind. It was a good event. Caitlyn is sleeping it off right now.
While I was at the event I was speaking to another volunteer for Hospice and we were discussing how everyone thought it was so difficult to be a volunteer for Hospice. It’s really not difficult, because the people you visit are reward enough. They are usually very happy to see you and very sweet. It is truly a blessing to be a volunteer for Hospice.
