‘Mailman Steve’ gets probation – Coolest Greenstory Ever

You’re not going to believe this. 

A mailman in Raleigh, NC didn’t deliver 3rd class Bulk Mail since 1999 in an effort to deliver his mail on-time, quickly and efficiently; during a time when the area was growing quickly and generating additional mail.  Not one customer noticed or complained the entire time.  Postal authorities didn’t realize anything was amiss until a utility worker notice the piling-up mail at Mailman Steve’s house. 

The prosecutors office notified hundred’s of Mailman Steve’s customers about the transgressions and the criminal proceedings, only one customer responded in support of Mailman Steve.  Apparently Mailman Steve built up a sizable amount of goodwill with his customers, with his personal service, handing out treats to dogs and introducing himself to the children as Mailman Steve. 

The judge, gave Mailman only a slap on the wrist, certainly an indicator that the Judge believe that Mailman Steve acted appropriately by not delivering the third class bulk mail.  And something I fully agree with.  Who among us has not walked directly from the mail box to the garbage pail to toss out the unnecessary Bulk Mail?  And consider how many trees would be saved by eliminating third class bulk mail completely.
