Rain, Rain, rain, rain.

Well, didn’t it rain, children.
Yesterday as tropical storm “Fay” approached it was raining as I woke in the morning.  It continued to rain and the winds continued to increase through out the day.  We went from Tornado Warnings to Tornado Watches all day.   At 1 am I went to bed and the rain and winds were continuing.  This morning, early, the rains stopped and the day was calm.   It seems “Fay” had passed us in the night and was not doing a uturn on the western shore.  I ran to the store for supplies yesterday during the storm.  Filled up my gas tank.  I felt like the locals in the storm thought I was a foolish northerner, stocking up in a small storm like this.  I filled the trunk of the car with bottled water.

God’s gonna send the waters from Zion.
Odds are that “FAY” would run out of steam while she was on land.  We’re hoping that “Fay” would not make it out to sea again and pick up some strenght on the ocean and then to turn around again and blundgeon us again with her rain and winds.

He’s good raise his Heaven up higher,
Senior Care was cancelled yesterday and today.  Dad sits in his room listening to the news turned up so loud, there isn’t a place in the house we can’t hear it.  Once and a while he’ll wander out of his room to see if there is life on Planet House, we try to amuse Dad and he always ends up watching TV in his room again later on.

It’s gonna rain. (Well, it’s gonna rain.)
We’re just watchin’ and waiting on “FAY”.  I’ll let you know how she’s progressing.

We’re having a heat wave, a tropical heat wave

A heat wave blew right into town last week
Well, another busy day.  Today after dropping Dad off at the Senior Center, I got home and practiced the clarinet for two (2) hours in preparation of my upcoming clarinet sectional.  Practice went fine.  My cat Cleo ran from my room holding her ears.  Good old Maggie, tapped at the door and wanted me to let her in.  She sat on my feet while I practiced.  What a comfort Maggie the dog can be.

She came from the island of Martinique
As we got Dad ready this morning to go to the senior center, he said he was a little tired from just getting back from vacation yesterday.  Yesterday we took Dad to Epcot yesterday.  He rented an electric scooter to ride.  And he did a pretty good job avoiding hitting small children and all, most of the time.  Near the end of the night, he forgot how to push the power button to make it go, but we show him how to do it again, and again.  (Photos to be added later.)  We had a really good time and we’re going again today after 4pm.

The can-can she dances will make you fry
We can’t go to Epcot tomorrow or Wednesday because we expect a tropical depression or Hurricane to show up by then.  People in Florida are already canceling and rescheduling all appointments for that time period.  We’ve got to batten down the hatches; right after we get back from Disney’s Epcot center tonight.

The can-can is really the reason why
I visited Disney’s Epcot about 10 years ago.  I had a good time then.  But now, it seems like everything has been upgraded.  Lots of new rides.  Lots of new technology.

We’re having a heat wave, a tropical heat wave
And at the end of the night – there’s always the fireworks show.  Which was really beautiful.  We had lovely margarita’s while we were there (not Dad of course).  And in the evening we enjoyed a Greek meal.  I had Felafal’s which were Delicious.  The rest of the crew had lamb or gyros.

The temp’rature’s rising, it isn’t surprising
There is really little bad you can say about Disney’s Epcot.  It really does rank among the happiest places on Earth.

She certainly can can-can
When I attended Indiana University, the Marching 100 http://www.indiana.edu/~bands/name.htm
performed a half-time show to this song “Heat Wave” where the band formed the shape of a thermometer.  And during the song, the temp rose on the Thermometer.  Our Band directors thought they were very clever with this half time show.

Many Thanks to Irving Berlin for the use of his Lyrics.
