Well, I really wanted to post today about the imminent Obama Inauguration. It’s an important event in our country. To my dismay, a couple of my friends confided that they were afraid of what would happen after the inauguration. Hence, my desire to comment on this event.
I understand some people have been raised to believe that the color of a person has some impact on the kind of person that they are. Today, we know with certainty that this idea is not true. It is an old faulty idea, that must be tossed aside, like a dirty rag. Knowing human nature and how difficult it is to change someones mind. I realise that my writing a basic truth will ultimately have no impact on the higher reasoning of the population of this country. But I’d like to believe that I can start the smallest of ripples and watch it reverberate throughout this entire nation.
We don’t need to be afraid of change. Change is a good thing thing and sometimes a necessary thing. Instead of thinking of it as change…Think instead that we are all taking a step forward into a new and better future.
Most of all what I hope for in this new Presidential Inauguration is an emphasis on the constitution and all our God-given rights. In the past, as a nation, we have been really blessed, with tremendous wealth and tremendous freedom. I pray that God continues to bless us with freedom and the ability to celebrate free speech and freedom to worship as we choose. Concepts that before the United States was formed were very foreign to most minds of that time.
Freedom is a new idea, that we are blessed to enjoy and continue to watch spread to all nations through out the world. May we be open to the Wisdom of the idea of Freedom, regardless of the color of your skin. And may each of us, be generous in our ideology that gives others the same freedom we allow ourselves.
And let me just close by asking this questions. When we were kids in high school, did you ever think that we would one day see the Inauguration lead off with a rock band? Because that’s what I’m watching right now on TV. A rock band celebrating the Inauguration of our new Presidential Elect Obama. Change is good!!
